The Anambra State House of Assembly has been urged to ensure speedy passage of the 2024 Budget Proposal of the state.

 

Speaking in Awka, the Vice President of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene said this would enable the state government commence early implementation of the budget to achieve set goals.

 

Chief Okeke-Ogene said the budget estimate is very comprehensive and well-articulated to consolidate and accelerate ongoing development being recorded by the present administration.

 

He expressed satisfaction with the cordial and harmonious relationship between the Executive and Legislature in their common interest to promote good governance and collective interest of the state above every other consideration.

 

The Ohaneze Ndigbo Vice President commended the pace and quality of work on the dualization of the UNIZIK Temporary Site Junction-Mgbakwu-Isuaniocha Road Project, which he noted will open up various communities in the area, enhance evacuation of agricultural produce and raise value of property in the areas.

 

He commended residents and people of the areas for their support and cooperation with the state government to actualize the project.

 

Also speaking, the Anambra State Chairman of Miners Association of Nigeria, Chief Henry Igboeli said the 2024 Budget will increase interventions in very sectors of the state economy, and called for adequate allocation to the Ministry of

 

Petroleum and Mineral Resources to help increase tempo of mining activities across the state in order to unlock the huge potential in the sector.

 

Chief Igboeli, noted that this would help the state to boost its revenue base, create more employment opportunities for youths and attract more investors to different parts of the state.

 

He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Tony Ifeanya, for various initiatives to reposition the mining sector.
