Anambra New Yam Festival Targets To Promote Igbo Cultural Heritage – Commissioner

Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Tony Collins Nwabunwanne says the essence of the new yam festival is to promote Igbo culture and tradition.

 

Mr Nwabunwanne in an exclusive interview with Journalists during the 2023 Anambra new yam festival organized by the Ministry of Culture, Entertainment and Tourism in conjunction with the Ministry of Local Government , Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, stressed that the festival was aimed at promoting Igbo language and culture and entrenching peace and stability in all communities in line with Governor Soludo’s manifesto disclosing that children will be involved in the next edition.

 

Mr Nwabunwanne who commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Wife Nonye for being at the forefront in propagating Igbo culture and values across the state assured that 2024 cultural festival will be more rewarding.

 

He called on Ndi Igbo both at home and, in the diaspora, to continue to promote Igbo culture and tradition to save it from going into extinction.
