Ahead of the 2023/2024 academia session, Anambra State, Post Primary School Service Commission has embarked on an annual retreat for the two hundred and sixty-six school principals in the state,

 

The event held at Madonna Renewal center, Nkpor, Idemili North council area with the theme “Changing the landscape of secondary Education in Anambra State was targeted at equipping school managers with increased knowledge to optimize good academic performance.

The weeklong event drew participants, key officers, stakeholders, as well as principals of public and public mission schools from the six zones of the commission across the state.

 

In an address of welcome, the Chairman PPSSC, Professor, Nkechi Ikediugwu, maintained that the retreat remains a platform for knowledge transfer, to improve on educational programmes, and share ideas in mitigating the challenges of school management in the state.

She highlighted the need to maximize the opportunity as policy implementers, and work as partners in changing the narratives of secondary education in the state.

 

Professor Ikediugwu extolled the education friendly disposition of Governor Soludo, and submitted the significant growth made so far in the sector.

The chairman, Anambra State Universal Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi who spoke on the relationship between the principal and Guidance Counselor as well as issues concerning junior secondary schools, stressed the need to thinker and proffer ways to improve on existing knowledge transfer on psychological personal, social and vocational aspect of the students to help checkmate the vices in the society.

Other speakers, including Professor Patience Egboka, Dr. Helen Oluora, Dr. Bibian Okoli, Mrs. Sabina Ndigwe as well as Mrs. Oby Elechi, spoke on the sub-themes.

 

In a remark, the Secretary of the Commission Mr. Bernadine Aniago noted that the achievements in the sector have earned the state global recognition.

On his part, the President All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Schools, ANCOPSS, Mrs. Jovita Arazu, lauded the state government’s efforts in upliftment of the sector, and called for dedication and hard work among the leaders.
