The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it is ready to conduct the 2023 general elections beginning with the Presidential and National Assembly elections this Saturday.

The Commission, through its chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu declared its readiness yesterday during a pre-election tour to the training centre for INEC’s ad-hoc staff and Presiding Officers at Government Secondary School Garki, and different Venues to be used for National Collation Centre, Situation room and Press Centre at the International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja.

INEC Chairman while speaking at the training center for National Youth Service Corps Presiding Officers, advised everybody to shun partisanship and fraud, as according to him, the BVAS is smarter than everybody and reminded them that they are the only ones that will handle the BVAS at polling units on the election day, hence they should take their job seriously.

Professor Yakubu cautioned them not to give the BVAS to someone as the Commission is tracking them so as to know who is holding which BVAS at all times.

He disclosed that NYSC members are going to operate at the most important level of the electoral system at the polling unit levels and said that their loyalty is to Nigeria and Nigerians and not to any political party or any candidate.

The INEC boss maintained that the protests generated in some parts of the country are no threats to the elections as the security agencies have taken charge and that Nigerians will be voting in over one hundred and seventy-six thousand polling units nationwide.
