Anambra State Executive Council has awarded contract for the construction of two new roads and re-construction of three dilapidated ones in the State.
A release signed by the Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu, listed the roads to include, Achina-Onneh-Ogboji road with a total length of seven point eight zero kilometers and width of seven point three meters and which will be executed by IDC Construction Company Limited at the cost of over four point nine five zero billion naira to be completed within twelve months from the date of mobilization.
The release said selected Isuofia roads with total length of nine point eight four two kilometres with an average width of seven point three meters were awarded to Stefanutti Stocks Hapel Limited at the cost of Five point three one zero billion naira and will be completed in twelve months.
According to the release, the re-construction of Ifite-Ogwari road with spur to Ifite-Ogwari was awarded to New Idea Construction Limited at the cost of over six hundred point seven nine zero million naira and will be completed within four months from the date of mobilization.
It explained that Savinovo-Umuofor-Bright Street, Nkwo-Umuhu-Ubahuezike road was split between two contractors for speedy completion of the construction work.
According to the release, Rojel Nigeria Limited got four point zero three kilometres of the road while Hammakopp Consortium Limited got four point two six kilometres and the road has an average width of seven point three meters. Rojel will complete its own part of the job in six months at the cost of one point five billion naira while Hammakopp will complete its own at the cost of over one point seven, one-nine billion naira to be completed in four months.
The release said that Anambra State Executive Council also revalidated the construction work on Nnokwa-Adazi Enu-Akwaeze road at the revised cost of over two point nine billion naira awarded to Benejaf International Limited and is expected to be completed within twelve months.
It said all the contractors will be paid thirty percent of the contract sum as material advance, backed by an advance payment guarantee from a reputable bank domicile in Anambra State.
