Governor Chukwuma Soludo has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of one hundred and thirty-two KV power station at Umuekete Igboezunu Aguleri, in Anambra East Local Government Area.

 

The project when completed will serve as a source of power supply to Anambra North Senatorial District.

Performing the ceremony, Governor Soludo represented by the Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Mr Julius Chukwuemeka explained that the project is in fulfillment of his manifesto towards providing steady power supply in the State.

 

Governor Soludo who reiterated that he will partner stakeholders in the power value chain to ensure that there is constant electricity, maintained that as the state at the moment is generating zero mega- watt of electricity, soon it will begin to generate power that will be private sector driven.

He appealed to the community to support the government to ensure that the project is completed at a record time, noting that the government is already creating an enabling environment to facilitate projects and augment the supply perched from the national grid.

 

In a remark, the traditional ruler of Aguleri Igwe Micheal Idigo, described the project as a welcome development and thanked Governor Soludo and those who donated their lands for the project.

In their speeches, the President-General of Enugwu-Otu Aguleri Development Union, Mr. Nnamdi Adimora and the Chairman Umuekete village Igboezunu Aguleri, Mr. Chinedu Mmadubueze, expressed gratitude to the present administration and commended former Governor Willie Obiano for attracting the project to the community, calling for the cooperation of the community to ensure completion and more developmental projects.

 

For the Senior Manager Protection, Control and Maintenance Department of Transmission Company of Nigeria, Mr Chinedu Ifeatu, said the community is privileged to attract the project which will provide employment and development for them, while the contractor, Cinnac Ventures Limited handling the project, Engineer Chinwendu Anyanwu, assured timely completion of the work with the cooperation of the community.
