The Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Paschal Agbodike has called on taxable residents in Anambra State to pay their tax to enable the state government provide the social amenities required for the development of the state.

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the Deputy Speaker made the call while speaking with journalists on the essence of tax payment to the development of the state in Awka.

Dr. Agbodike noted that many taxable adults in the state find it difficult to pay their taxes, which is their civic obligation, a situation he said has slowed rapid development of the state.

He therefore called on the citizenry to live up to their civic obligation to the state as it will go a long way to help the Soludo administration meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people as well as fulfill the promises it made.

On his part, the Chairman House committee on Environment, Honourable Edward Ibuzo commended the efforts of the state government in evacuation of refuse across the state, which is in line with the determination of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to build a clean, smart mega city for all and sundry.

The lawmaker urged Ndi Anambra to desist from dumping refuse at unapproved dump sites and drainages in the state in order to achieve the desired result.
