Anambra Convention Center, Awka, another legacy project of Governor Willie Obiano’s administration is being positioned as venue to host the swearing-in ceremony of the Governor-Elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
Governor Obiano stated while on inspection visit of the project.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that Governor Obiano embarked on the visit with some cabinet members of the Aguleri Traditional Institution .
He disclosed that the architectural design of the project takes after the popular ‘American Still Jet’ which moves silently and explained that it is one of the best in the American military arsenal, expressing his belief that an average onye Anambra is like that.
The Governor projected that with the airport in place, the Center will be viable and put to use all year round and expressed confidence that the contractor is competent enough to deliver on schedule.
Speaking on maintainance and sustainability plans for the project, Governor Obiano said that the contractor will also work as facility manager because according to him, it is a viable approach to ensure that the facility will be properly maintained to achieve the goals , just like the airport and stadium.
The Contractor of the project, Mr. Mark Tu who explained that the center has a seating capacity of between ten thousand and twelve thousand persons at once, explained that they are rounding off the ceiling and lighting work and about to commence the final painting of the building.
While projecting tentative delivery date for the project as end of January or beginning of February, Mr Tu promised to engage more workforce to work day and night after the holidays.
Chief Joe Anemuo who spoke onbehalf of the Aguleri community, stated that having followed the Governor’ plans with keen interest, the community is happy and proud of him for taking the state to its present pedestal which he said will ensure that the next administration will have enough foothold to continue to advance the state.
