The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has assured that the Anambra gubernatorial election will still hold on Saturday this week as scheduled.

 

Professor Yakubu gave the assurance during a meeting with critical players in the forthcoming Anambra election, including top INEC officials, the Nigerian Army, Police, Department of State Service, DSS, Civil Defence, Road Safety, among others.

 

The INEC Boss while assuring a level playing ground for all parties participating in the election, called on Ndi Anambra to come out and vote their preferred candidate on the election day.

 

Professor Yakubu asked staff of the commission to be on top of their game during the election.

 

Contributing, the Anambra state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, restated the commitment of the commission to stick to professionalism in the election.

 

Also speaking, the Anambra state Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Eworo assured adequate security on the election day, and said that people of the state should not be afraid of any form of intimidation by miscreants as the command has in conjunction with other security agencies in the state assigned personnel that will man the land, sea, and air on Saturday to ensure safety of the electorate.
