Anambra State Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment will partner the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to properly inform and generate inputs from residents of the State on the planned expansion of access to Polling Units in the state.

The State Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C Don Adinuba disclosed this in a interview with Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha in Awka.

Mr. Adinuba, who described the expansion of access to Polling Units as a way of encouraging more citizen’s participation in the nation’s Democratic processes, encouraged eligible citizens to take advantage of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which INEC said will commence on 28th June, 2021 to participate in deepening the nation’s Democracy, especially electing Governor Willie Obiano’s successor.

On his part, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, who explained that some existing Polling Units in the State do not make it easy for people to exercise their Democratic rights, said the Commission will establish new Polling Units, rename and relocate those not properly located.

He assured that, relying on support of citizens, INEC is determined to improve on previous elections conducted in the State, which he noted were less litigious.
