The Director General, Youth Mobilization, Technology and Innovation, YMTI, Anambra State, Engineer Emeka Okonkwo has met with leaders of socio-cultural and religious youth groups in Anambra State, to seek plans for the conglomeration of all youth groups in Anambra State.

 

The meeting which held at the Youth Mobilization, Technology and Innovation complex in Awka, was also aimed at drawing roadmaps for the actualization of the vision of the office through an inclusive blueprint that brings all Anambra youths on board for a united Anambra agenda.

 

The meeting had in attendance youth leaders from the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Youth Wing of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Catholic Youths’ Organization of Nigeria, CYON, Anglican Youth Fellowship, AYF, National Youth Council of Nigeria, NANS and Coalition of Anambra Youth Leaders, among others.

Addressing the youth leaders, the convener, Engineer Okonkwo, said that the plan was to have a forum that would mobilize all youths towards politics, governance and administration and act as an advisory body to the Governor of Anambra State on youth-related matters.

 

The DG also said that the new office would serve as a transformational hub for youth orientation and  commended Governor Willie Obiano for his foresight in establishing the agency and pledged good results at the end.

 

In his remarks, a former Anambra State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, and currently the Chairman, Coalition of Anambra Youth Leaders, Mr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, said that the office must outline its goals on a written documentation to serve a practical format for sensitization and keep youths apprised of its activities.

 

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman Onitsha North Local Government Area, and President General, ASATU Youth Wing, Honourable Patrick Mba, said that Governor Obiano’s confidence in Engineer Okonkwo has always been repaid with results, with the YMTI boss having delivered commendable  when he was the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Area.

 

Youth Mobilization, Technology and Innovation office was established by Governor Willie Obiano in November, 2020, and has Engineer Okonkwo as the pioneer Director General.

 

The new office complex of the agency shall be inaugurated on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
