Hardship, desperation and insecurity that have been on the increase in the country will be a thing of the past when Nigerians change their attitudes and start seeing fellow citizens as one.

The former Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army, Anambra East Division, Archbishop Dr. Edwin Okorougo stated this during an ABSTV Audience Participatory Programme, “Anambra Express.”

According to the Archbishop, the situation in Nigeria where insecurity, youth unemployment, dwindling economy, and abject poverty are on the increase, while a few are living in opulence, have resulted in a general feeling of dissatisfaction, aggression and agitations from different quarters in the country.

The Prelate noted that the change Nigeria needs should begin with Nigerian citizens, calling on the people not to allow the offenses of the past make them discriminate or hate others, as Nigeria can only make progress as a nation when citizens eschew ethnicism and religiosity.

He called on the Legislators to come up with right laws that will reduce the burden of oppression and give the youths a chance for leadership positions, even as he urged the youths to obey constituted authorities to engender positive transformation in the country.

Archbishop Okorougo cautioned Nigerians to emulate Rwandans in promoting national consciousness, where no tribe or religion will dominate another, pointing out that Nigerians should focus more on what unites than what separates, in order to restore the lost glory of the country.
