The Director, News and Current Affairs of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Mr Gab Okpalaeze, has encouraged mothers to live up to the responsibilities of motherhood and inculcate good morals and values to their children.

 

Mr. Okpalaeze gave the encouragement at Nnokwa Centre  when the Catholic Women Organization of Saint Mary’s Parish, Nnokwa, Awka Branch, held  activities in commemoration of the 2021 Mothers’ day of the Catholic Church.

 

Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata reports that part of activities to mark the 2021 mothering Sunday of the Catholic Church were brought to the fore by the Catholic Women Organization of Saint Mary’s Parish Nnokwa.

 

The women who trooped out in their numbers, in a match past paraded round the field, including  zone one to zone four of the Saint Mary’s Parish Nnokwa  while  the Chairman on the Occasion, Mr. Okpalaeze took salute.

Other activities exhibited were drama and news presentation which thrilled the audience and illuminated the significance of Mothers’day celebration.

 

Declaring the event open, Mr. Okpalaeze,  explained  that the role of women in the society and family cannot be underestimated.

 

He called on mothers to nurture  their children morally and ethically, stating that if mothers fail in their duties and obligations towards child upbringing, the growth and development of any society will be stunted.

 

On his part, the Parish Priest of Saint Mary’s Parish Nnokwa, Very Reverend Father Johnbosco Ezika, thanked God that the activities were successful, while appreciating women for playing commendable roles in the Church.

 

Speaking to ABS, the President, Catholic Women’s organization, Saint Mary’s Parish Nnokwa, Mrs Edith Idemili, emphasized that mothers play active and significant roles in the family, describing them as family builders.

 

Presentation of gifts to mothers and children were the climax of the event.
