The rich cultural heritage of Umuoji community in Idemmili North council area was brought to the fore during the last Ofala of the Traditional ruler of the community, Late Dr. Cyril Nwabunwanne Enweze.

 

The Ofala ceremony, which was held at the Traditional ruler’s Palace, attracted men from all walks of life, who came to pay their last respect to the Monarch who joined his ancestors at the age of seventy.

 

Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that Igwe Enweze, a world -class Economist of high repute, had a fourteen years of active reign in Umuoji community, and served as the Chairman of Anambra State Investment, Promotion, and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA, during which he attracted several developmental projects to the State.

According to Governor Willie Obiano, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C-Don Adinuba, the Umuoji Monarch attracted investments worth four to five billion US dollars to Anambra state when he was the ANSIPPA boss, and described him as a global personality, who meritoriously served his community and the State in general.

 

In an interview, the President -General of Umuoji town, Chief Sly Onyima, described the late Traditional ruler as a patriotic and peace-loving leader, who throughout his reign, worked tirelessly to develop and maintain peace in the community, assuring that he will ensure that the peace and unity that exist in Umuoji are sustained, even in the absence of the King.

Some members of Umuoji Traditional Ruler’s Cabinet, including Chief Okey Udah, and Chief Gregory Okoye, who advised the family to toe their father’s his footsteps, pointed out that Umuoji community had recorded a lot of developments and achievements since 2005 Dr. Enweze was coronated as the Traditional ruler, adding that the community will miss him and his unique love for his people.

 

Displays by masquerades, and performances by various dance groups, musicians and others added glamour to the event.
