The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Uchenna Okafor has urged Ndi Anambra to heed to Governor Willie Obiano’s call and register for COVID-19 vaccination.
Right Honorable Okafor made the plea shortly after receiving his COVID-19 vaccination at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.
He advised residents of the state to take advantage of the website launched by the state government to register and make selves available for the vaccination.
While describing COVID-19 vaccine as a breakthrough in the world health sector, the Speaker appealed to Ndi Anambra, who are still skeptical about the vaccine to discard the conspiracy theories and get vaccinated, as the vaccine has been medically certified for usage.
Contributing, the Awka South Transition Committee Chairman, Mr. Leo Nwuba, congratulated Governor Willie Obiano for his tireless efforts and strategy in securing lives of the state citizenry before the arrival of the first tranche of the COVID-19 vaccine into the state.
Mr. Nwuba, who is the Chairman Awka South COVID-19 Task Force team, described the efforts made by the state government in acquiring the vaccines as a sign of commitment towards the fight against the scourge of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
He expressed hope that with the website, the vaccination process would be smooth and people would be vaccinated on first come first serve bases.
However, Anambra State recently received seventy-eight thousand, eight hundred and ten doses of Oxford-Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
