An academic, Dr Nelson Omenugha, has donated a water borehole and solar street light to his village, Umuru village, Nnobi Community, Idemili North Local Government, Area.

Many dignitaries from all over the state came to  witness to the kind gesture.

Correspondent, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu was there and  reports that while dedicating the water project, the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Ekwuluobia, Most Reverend Peter Okpalaeke, commended Dr Omenugha for initiating, completing and handing over the project to the community and charged others to emulate such good initiative.

Bishop Okpalaeke attributed such move to having a godly and supportive parents urging other parents to train their children to be useful to the society.

Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities Engineer Emeka Ezenwanne,  his Basic Education counterpart, Professor Kate Omenugha, charged other youths to embrace the think home philosophy of Governor Obiano in order to have a better society.

Others who lauded  the initiative including the Member representing Aguata Two Constituency at the state House of Assembly Honourable Okechukwu Okoye and the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency Dr Simon Onyemaechi, challenged everyone to  get involved in their different communities in order to foster development.

On why he embarked on the project, Dr Omenugha said he deemed it necessary following his community’s struggle with lack of water over the years.

He also noted that as a leader of the youths, it is important for him to set example for others to follow since charity begins at home.

Present at the event were the Member representing Njikoka One Constituency at the state House of Assembly Honourable Pete Ibida, the contractor who handled the project George Okeke, Catholic priests from different dioceses and parishes, among others.
