Anambra State Magistrate court holding in Awka has adjourned to April fourth, 2021, case between the Attorney General of the state, in conjunction with the Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue and one Mr. Chidi Nnadi and others now at large.

Mr. Nnadi has been in the court on six count charges bordering on impersonation of revenue agent, falsification of documents in order to divert revenue accruable to government, obstruction of duties of authorized revenue agents, among others, and had pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him and others now at large.

Ruling on the matter, the presiding Magistrate, Mr. N Anyaegbunam, again, adjourned the matter to April fourth, 2021, to enable the prosecutor conclude investigations on the matter.

In his reaction, counsel to the defendant, Guy O. Okenyi, noted that the position of law is that investigations must be concluded, and evidences provided before one can be charged to court so that the charges can be sustained, expressing dismay over hurried arrangement of his client on what he described as trumped-up charges.

Efforts to get reactions from counsel to the plaintiffs, the Attorney General of Anambra State, and the State Board of Internal Revenue, Barnabas E. Udemba Esq, proved abortive.

Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that though the defendant, Mr. Nnadi, was granted bail at the previous Court sitting, and had perfected his bail conditions, his defence counsel, Okenyi, has expressed worry over charges still hanging on his client.
