Anambra State Government has issued certificate of recognition to the Traditional rulers of Aguluzigbo, Achalla, Ogbunka and Owelle Communities.

While Igwe Rufus Iloduba was recognized as the traditional ruler of Aguluzoigbo, Igwe Sunny Nwokedi was recognized as the traditional ruler of Achalla.

Igwe John-Mark Anyaoha and Igwe Raymond Omoja were recognized as the traditional rulers of Ogbunka and Owelle Communities respectively.

This brings to fifty seven the number of traditional rulers that have been issued with certificate of recognition by the Obiano administration.

Performing the functionGovernor Willie Obiano charged them to uphold peace and progress in their various communities cautioned them against using their position to oppress the poor.

While pointing out that the traditional institution is the bedrock of maintaining peace at the grassroots Anambra State, Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy and Community Affairs Chief Greg Obi stressed that Anambra State government follows due and thorough process in issuing certificates.

The Chairman Anambra State traditional rulers council Igwe Alfred Achebe of Onitsha advised the new Traditional rulers to always carry everybody along to ensure lasting peace in their various Communities.

Senator Victor Umeh hinted that Aguluzigbo have not had a traditional ruler since 2008 and asked those who did not emerge to join hands with the recognized traditional ruler for the good of their people.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Primus Odili, Commissioners for Housing, and Urban Renewal Mr Mike Okonkwo and his Lands counterpart, Mr Bonaventire Enemali, Traditional rulers led by Anambra State and South East Chairman of Tradìtional Rulers Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe of Onitsha, Chairman House Committee On Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Dr. Pete Ibida, member representing Anaocha Constituency Two at the State House of Assembly, Sir Ejike Okechukwu attended the event.

Others were the member representing Awka North Constituency at the State House of Assembly Chief John Nwokoye, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community AffairsMrs Vera-Queen Okonkwo among others.
