The Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, a charity organization founded by the wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano, has commenced the fitting of prosthetics limbs on the people for the Year, at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.

The exercise which is free has seen thousands of people within and outside Anambra State receive the artificial fittings over the years.

Speaking shortly after being fitted with a prosthetic limb, a septuagenarian, Mrs Paulina Ezenwosu, who came from Oko in Orumba North Local Government Area, said that she felt better with the new fitting, and appreciated Dr Obiano for providing it free.

Mr Michael Chinwuba, who got a prosthetic fitting for the right limb, extolled the Governor’s wife for her benevolence.

Mr Greg Ikeamaka Nnadozie who hails from Ifitedunu in Dunukofia Local Government Area, but resides in Abia State, was led to the venue by his wife, Ebelechukwu.

His movement has been aided by a pair of clutches for three years after having his left limb amputated and heard about the programme through a family member.

According to the couple, the new prosthetic limb was significant because the man could now finally get rid of the clutches and do certain things on his own.

They prayed for the Governor’s wife for always impacting positively on the lives of the  people, especially the less privileged, and prayed God to bless  blessed her life’s endeavours.

Recall that the Governor’s wife also runs a similar programme in partnership with Smile Train Foundation, New York that sponsors children with cleft lips and palates on a free surgery at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi.
