The new Anambra state Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Kuryas has warned officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force in the state to desist from extortion and other corrupt practices and indiscipline in order to escape impending punishment.

CP Kuryas gave the warning while decorating the one hundred and sixty-nine police officers promoted recently to higher ranks.

CP Kuryas who pointed out that his office will not entertain any form of misconduct from any officer of the forcer of the command, said that men and officer of the command must desist from extortion, unlawful detention and incivility to members of the public, among others.

The Police Commissioner also warned peddlers of fake news to desist henceforth, as the command will not condone such act which he said has the tendency of causing violence or disruption of public peace.

He however assured that the command will sustain the existing interagency collaboration and improve on its respect for the rule of law and fundamental human rights in accordance with international best practices.

Mr Kuryas thanked journalists in the state for assisting security agencies in fighting crime, and solicited for more of their support in the resolve of the Police Command to retain the status of Anambra state as the safest in Nigeria.

The promoted officers expressed happiness over their new ranks, and described it as a call to more service to their father land.
