The Executive Secretary, Anambra state Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi has urged Ndi Anambra to maintain regular medical check-up to promote healthy living.

Speaking in Awka, Dr Onyemaechi reiterates the determination of the state government towards providing quality and affordable health care to people of the state.

Paul Ezeoke reports that Dr Onyemaechi said health insurance is one of the major ways of achieving universal health coverage as it gives the poor, less privileged and vulnerable people the platform to access quality, affordable and efficient health services regularly.

He maintained that Governor Obiano’s administration is resolute in sustaining high standard of living for the people of the state.

Also speaking, a medial practitioner, Dr Mike Omenugha said the state Health Insurance Scheme has made possible for people at the grassroots in various communities to access quality health service in various hospitals in major areas at little or no cost which he said has reduced self-medication and stopped people from patronizing quacks.

Dr Omenugha extolled Governor Willie Obiano for his visionary initiatives that are not only benefiting people and residents of the state but will also benefit future generation, noting that the establishment of Oxygen plant by the Governor in Awka years before emergence of COVID-19 has promoted efficiency in healthcare services and equipped the state properly to fight the pandemic.

He urged the people, church leaders, market and community leaders to support the state government’s efforts to halt the spread of infections by upholding safety protocols.
