According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, shelter has remained the number one priority of man.

But due to the constant increase in the prices of building materials, the achievement of a shelter becomes a bottle neck to some that desired it.

In this special report, Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that intending developers will now heave a sigh of relief as some of the building materials are now recording downward price movement.

 

A bag of Cement, formerly sold for four thousand, and four thousand, five hundred naira depending on brand , is now sold for two thousand, eight hundred naira, and two thousand seven hundred naira.

A visit to Umuokpu Market Awka by ABS revealed the new development, which hopefully will still come down to two thousand, three hundred naira, and two thousand four hundred naira it was sold before the festive period.

Speaking on the development , a Cement dealer at the Umuokpu Market, Lady Anastasia Chukwu explained that they really experienced low patronage during festive period, when cement was sold for four thousand naira, and four thousand five hundred naira, calling on cement producers and distributors to device means of reducing the price of the commodity, so as to enable them have increased turnover.

For a transporter, Mr. Praise Nwamgborie, the reduction in the prices of the commodity will enable them make more money from their customers as they will now buy more unlike during the period of the price hike.

Contributing, a buyer, Mr. Josephat Atu called for more reduction in the prices of the commodity to enable less privileged persons in the society to afford moderate houses, and called for price regulation of cement and other commodities in the country by the Federal Government, to ensure price control.
