School Authorities have been charged to be ready to implement all safety measures against COVID-19 to fight the second wave of the virus when school reopens on 1st February, 2021.

 

The Deputy Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Lady Pat Offia gave the charge in an interview with the ABS in Onitsha.

 

Lady Pat who is also the Member in-charge of PPSSC Awka zone listed the safety measures to include: fumigation of school premises, provision of buckets with running water  and soap for regular hand washing, as well as using Infrared  thermometer for temperature check.

 

According to the PPSSC Awka Deputy Chairman, the fight against COVID-19 pandemic should start from the grassroot like villages and churches to inculcate the safety messages in the minds of the citizens.

 

Lady Pat who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Primary Education further urged Ndi Anambra to improve on their personal hygiene, as well as make use of alcohol based hand sanitizer to protect themselves from contracting the deadly Corona virus.

 

She emphasized on the reality of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic which she described as more deadly and called on the citizens to take the preventive measures against the virus with all seriousness.
