Hospitality business in Anambra state has recorded a boost with the inauguration of Hilton Leisure Resort and hotel Awka, an intercontinental five star hotel that is adjudged to be of international standard.


Njideka Okoye was at the grand opening of the hotel and reports that Hilton Leisure Resort and hotel, located at no forty-one Regina Caeli road Awka was officially opened for business after being inaugurated by the state Governor Chief Willie Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke.

The hotel has fifty two accommodation facilities, indoor and outdoor bars, conference halls, standard GYM, SPA to mention but a few.

The Anambra state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C- Don Adinuba in his remarks said the economy of Anambra is developing in an impressive rate, attributing the rapid development and influx of investors into the state to good security network in Anambra.
He stated that the hotel is a practical demonstration of Aku Luo Uno policy of Obiano administration.


In his speech, the chairman of the hotel and the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, thanked God for his inspiration to build the hotel to provide people with those services they travel to receive in foreign countries and to create employment.

In his address, the Director of the hotel, Engineer Nonso Emeka, thanked God for making the dream a reality and urged people to join the new world of comfort in Hilton Leisure Resort and hotel, assuring them of satisfaction.

Also speaking, member of APGA BOT Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka and the Anambra State President Ohaneze Ndigbo Chief Damian Okeke Ogene commended Igwe Emeka for heeding the Akuluo Uno call of Governor Obiano.

The Bishop Diocese of Niger West Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe described Igwe Emeka as a man of wisdom and thanked God for helping him to put up such a standard hotel.


Others present at the event include Past and serving commissioners, members of the State Assembly, traditional rulers, Umueri Royal Cabinet members, industrialists, friends and well wishers.

The event featured cutting of cake directed by the traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo.
