Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has inaugurated over eighty 2020 new Special Marshals to assist in traffic management in Anambra state, including the Director of News and Current Affairs Department of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Gab Okpalaeze.


The inauguration of the new special Marshals was part of the general conference and retreat organized by the Federal Road Safety Corps Special Marshals Section of the Anambra state Sector Command at Neni in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.

Addressing the new Special Marshals, the Anambra state FRSC Sector Commander Mr. Andrew Kumapayi represented by Deputy Corps Commander, Mr. Joseph Abuo said the team who were trained for six months were admitted to help in reducing road crashes and ensure free flow of traffic in the state during and after this Yuletide period.


Also speaking, the National Coordinator Special Marshals, Dr Sini Kwabe and the state Coordinator of the team, Barrister Ben Osaka who described Special Marshals as volunteer arm of the FRSC and image makers of the Corps through advocacy, reminded them that their service requires selflessness, respect to people, patience, punctuality and commitment, among others.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the Director News and Current Affairs of the ABS, Mr. Okpalaeze said he joined the team with the aim of rendering service to humanity, and promised to be consistent and committed to duty.


The conference with theme “The Imperative of Teamwork in the Operations of the Special Marshals” was aimed at equipping the marshals with necessary knowledge to perform creditably and featured series of lectures on ” New Police Act 2020″ and “fire prevention “, where Barrister Nnamdi Omenna and Mr. Chukwuemeka Akpagu of the state Fire Service respectively enlightened the Marshals on how to withstand intimidation from the policemen, and prevent fire outbreak through total adherence to safety rules and regulations.
