James Nwoye Adichie, the late Nigerian first Professor of statistics and father of world renowned author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has been committed to mother earth in Abba, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
At his funeral service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Abba, the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Revd Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye, reminded Christians of the need to live a life according to the teachings of Christ and worthy of emulation,  noting that the late Professor  Adichie lived, and impacted positively on the life of those whom  he came across with.
While consoling the bereaved family, Bishop Okoye urged them to sustain the good legacies of their late father, reminding all that heaven is the eternal home for Christians who ran their race well.
In his remarks, the award-winning writer and daughter of the deceased, Chimamanda Ngozi, said the late Professor Adichie was a patient and loving father, with strong passion for education, while former governor of Anambra state, and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Peter Obi, extolled the examplary life of the late Professor Adichie, describing him as a peace maker, who left enduring legacies for his children and the society.
Speaking after interment, some of the deceased family members, including the late Adichie’s sons, Chuks and Kene said their late father practiced and preached hardwork, sincerity, kindness and was a role model to many.
For the President-General of Abba Town Union, Engr Benneth Anekwe, the late Professor Adichie was an illustrious son of the community, with positive contributions to the larger society, urging upcoming generations to emulate his legacies in education.
Dignitaries who joined in bidding farewell to the late scholar include the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka,  Professor Charles Esimone, other academians, traditional rulers and host of other personalities, including the Managing Director of Best Aluminium Manufacturing company, Chief Pius Nweke.
