The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor says the State legislature will continue to make laws and resolutions aimed at eliminating all forms of discrimination against the female Children in the State.
In his goodwill message to mark this year’s International Day of the Girl Child Right Honourable Okafor enjoined parents to see the future of their female Children as a priority in view of their potential as future Mothers.
The Speaker who warned against the use of the girl child for hawking during school hours and other negative cultural practices, which he said, affects the moral and academic disposition of the girls, urged both government and parents to create an enabling environment for the female Children to occupy their rightful positions in the society.
He commended the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Dr.
Ebelechukwu Obiano for improving the economic and social status of girls in the State by exposing them to quality education and skills, urging well meaning citizens to join hands in creating a better future for the female Children in the state.
The State number one lawmaker used the occasion of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child to call on community leaders as well as other social agents to map out severe punishments for those who maltreat or jeopardize the happiness, security and safety of the female Children in the State.
