Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, says unapproved schools in the state will no longer operate from next academic session.

The Commissioner announced this while monitoring schools and ensuring that nursery pupils were not back to school as directed by the state government.

Professor Omenugha who was accompanied by Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra OCHA Brigade said that from next academic session, the task force will be responsible for sealing of all illegal schools in Anambra.
It would be recalled that the Commissioner had advised all schools operating illegally in 2019 to get government approval or risk being shut down.

At Jacy Grace International Nursery/Primary School and Floral Field Montessori School, it was observed that all necessary requirements for resumption in strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols like infrared thermometer, hand sanitizers, buckets with tap and liquid soaps were provided.
However, the Commissioner advised that nursery pupils should not come to school until further notice.
