Business experts have described virtual business as the way to go in
coping with COVID-19 era.

This was the view expressed by guests on an ABS radio audience
participatory programme, “The Perspective”.

According to the guests, Sir Chris Ukachukwu, President, Onitsha
Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ONICCIMA, and an
Industrialist, Mr. Sunny Nwachukwu, the need for traders to adopt
World Health Organization’s safety measures in the cause of caring out
their business activities has become critical to prevent the spread of
the dreaded virus.

Sir Chris called for the provision of adequate information and data
for traders to limit their travels to abroad noting that traders can
relate with their customers through virtual meeting.
He advised businessmen to explore opportunities around them and cut
their expenses to save their businesses from collapsing, urging them
to market their goods on the internet as well as diversify into
agriculture.

The ONICCIMA President called for loan without collateral for traders.
On his part, Mr. Nwachukwu stressed the need for traders to apply
creative innovations in serving their customers as well as initiate
strategies that will sustain their business.

While urging government to assist traders, Mr. Nwachukwu called on the
people to engage in agriculture to add value to their lives.
One of the callers, Chief Kevin Obieri, from Akokwa said the best way
for businesses to grow in this COVID-19 era is to engage ICT-savvy
youths as staff to facilitate the use of the new media and information
technologies for businesses.
