Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano has warned against wearing
face masks on the jaw or neck.

The Governor gave the warning during a statewide broadcast after a
virtual meeting with members of the state COVID-19 Task Force at the
Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that Governor Obiano called on ndi Anambra not to panic over the surge in
the number of Covid-19 cases in the state, noting that it was because of
increased testing.

The Governor said that out of the three hundred and two samples
collected so far, two hundred and thirty results have been released,
while seventy-two results are still pending at the NCDC.
According to the Governor fifty-three tested positive, out of which thirteen patients have been
discharged.

He stressed that Anambra has so far recorded nine deaths , has thirty-one
active cases, with seven patients still in the Protective Care
Centers.

Governor Obiano, however emphasized that the people that died were
confirmed after a post-mortem test on them, saying that it was also
discovered that they had underlying ailment being treated in the
private hospitals where they died.

While urging ndi Anambra to remain vigilant and observe all safety
protocols against Covid-19, the Governor asked people who show
symptoms to report early and disclosed that ninety percent of people who died as a result of the virus in
Anambra were aged sixty years and above but added that it does not
select its victims based on age.

While commending healthcare workers in the State, the Governor
cautioned churches, markets, commuters, hotels and others against
admitting people without face masks, adding that adequate arrangement
had been made by his administration to protect Ndi Anambra from the
virus.
