Over five hundred indigent persons from Uke community, Idemili North Council area have received succour from their traditional ruler, Igwe Charles Agbala to mitigate the hardship occasioned by the sit at home order.
Igwe Agbala distributed five hundred bags of ten kg Rice, five hundred sachets of iodized salt and other food items to the selected persons from the six villages that make-up the community.


Amaka Chibuzor-Okoye reports that Igwe Agbala while presenting the items to the beneficiaries at Uke town hall said that the virus which came in a twinkle of an eye has caused hardship, hunger and depression to people especially, the poor at the rural areas.


He maintained that the gesture was targeted at widows and the less privileged persons among them and encouraged them to be strong, focused and stick to the preventive measures.

Igwe Agbala commended Governor Willie Obiano for the numerous stimulus packages and other Ndi Uke, who gave hope to the downtrodden, praying God to bless them all.


The President General of the community, Mr. Chuks Igboanwuna, who said that Governor Obiano first set the pace by giving them palliative, commended the team spirit of Ndi Uke and charged them to always wash their hands, cover their nose and maintain healthy environment.


The woman leader of the town, Mrs. Ann Okonkwo, thank God for their traditional ruler and other Ndi Uke, who supported in alleviating the plight of the poor, calling on the women to use the period to rekindle family tie, pray always and more importantly, see to the well being of their children.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Rose Akuana, Mrs. Ebele Obiagu and Mrs. Ngozi Akunna extolled Igwe Agbala and those that supported in providing the items to put smile on their faces, praying God to replenish them.
