The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu has said that all the samples from the state sent to Irua in Edo State for testing have come out negative.


Professor Chukwulobelu said in a press briefing at the Government House Awka that currently, there is still no case of Covid-19 in the state, and that this was attributable to the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, who he said had spared nothing to ensure protection of the people of the state.


He said, the state almost went into panic last week over a case, but when the result came out, it was negative.


According to the SSG, the governor has done so much to avert possible epidemic as he said that now government are focusing on prevention, and has largely succeeded.


He appreciated all who have supported the covid-19 committee both in material and cash.


The Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala during the briefing where they received a cheque for financial support from UBA, said the state was making efforts to establish a testing center in Anambra.


Dr Okpala added that by next week, the state should be able to start testing people, as he urged Ndi Anambra to donate to the state government.


He listed things needed by the committee to include ICU equipments, ventilators, personal protective equipments, PPE, which are very expensive, as one can use over two hundred of them during the period of treating just one patient.


He said they have already procured three million personal protective equipment which has already cost one billion naira.
