The State Government have launched the Anambra State Open Government Partnership Action Plan and Anti-Corruption Strategy.


The programme which is in collaboration with Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption, RoLAC, was held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka.


The occasion drew participants from Ministries, Development, Agency and Civil Society Organization among others.


The Citizens Co-Chair, Anambra State Open Government Partnership, OGP, Prince Chris Azor in a speech, during the event said the state government in her numerous trail blazing efforts at deepening institutional and policy reform in governance signed up to open government partnership initiative, as one of the three pilot states in Nigeria.


Prince Azor explained that the state OGP action plan consist of five thematic areas and ten commitments that would help address challenges in governance and response to the state’s contextual issues, improve public service and integrity, efficient management of public resources among others.


In an address of welcome, the State OGP Focal Person, Mrs. Ogochukwu Orji enumerated the processes they went through before actualizing the dream of establishing OGP action plan in Anambra State commending Governor Obiano for approving and supporting the implementation of the programme.


In a good will message, the Principal Lead Budgit Foundation, Mr. Gabriel Okeowo said that over the years, budgit has been working through the OGP Secretariat and the Open Alliance to promote and campaign for sub-national transparency which supports state’s sign up to OGP to foster physical transparency, access to information, citizen’s participation and innovation that is needed for inclusive development and efficient service delivery.


On his part, the Manager, Component three, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme, Mr. Emmanuel Uche noted that the selection of Anambra State is essential because the state is synonymous with reforms extolling Governor Obiano for providing an enabling ground for the programme in the state.
