Timely arrival and joint effort of Officers and Men of the Nigeria Police, Road Safety and Fire officers, saved lives and property yesterday along the Obodoukwu, by Onitsha-Owerri Road, where another tanker ladened with Kerosine fell.


The tanker, with registration number ABA 350 YG en-route Owerri, Imo State, emptied its content into the drainage channel along the road.


Though the incident recorded no casualty, some people were seen scooping the products from the drainage channel.


Men of the Nigeria Police, Okpoko Command led by its Divisional Police Officer Mr Onyeka, Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps Onitsha Unit Command led by its Commander Mr Kolawale and Men of Okpoko Fire
Service led by its Commander Mr Chukwudi Chicheta were on ground to
control the situation and gridlock along the road.


Speaking to the ABS, the Unit Commander of Okpoko Fire
Service Mr Chicheta said they immediately rushed to the scene of the
incident to forestall any disaster that might arise from the incident
and thanked God that there was no casualty adding that the driver of the vehicle is now at large.


The Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State Mr Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident, said they were on top of the situation.
