The need for Repositioning the Scientific Research for Sustainable Development took the centre stage during the 2019 Faculty of Physical Sciences International Conference of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.


The event took place at the Uli Campus of the University.
In a lead paper presentation titled “Repositioning the Narratives of Scientific Research for Sustainable Development” the Vice Chancellor University of Ibadan Professor Abel Olayinka stressed the need for the Nation to use its natural resources to leverage its sustainable development.


The University Teacher canvassed for various ways through which the scientific researchers can be applied in accomplishing the set goals for Sustainable Development of the Nation.


He charged Institutions of the Higher learning on the need to impact meaningfully on the citizenry and society at large using strategic planning cycle.


Another keynote speaker Chief Edmund Okoye, Managing Director Orient Petroleum Resources maintained that scientific researches carried out with good result in various institutions should not to be domiciled in the laboratory or library rather be put to work and be maximized.
He charged government and private institutions to make use of natural resources in other to achieve futuristic purposes.
In another paper presentation the Managing Director of Geomarine Systems Mr Mma Okezie emphasized that scientific researches success depends on the logical thoroughness adopted.
He outlined various ways through which problems can be solved scientifically in the society by applying research methods to the problems.
Declaring the conference open, the Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Professor Greg Nwakoby, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Professor Ellis Idemobi, called on government at all levels to invest more in the education sector for productive purposes.


Earlier in a welcome address the Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences Professor Osita Chiaghanam called on the government to introduce measures through which Scientific Research Institutions can actualize their desired visions and missions.


In a remark the Chairman Media and Publicity sub-committee of the Conference and Head Department of Geology Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Dr Kingsley Nwozor, thanked the keynote speakers, awardees and participants of the conference for attending with an oversight on the need of Scientific research for sustainable development of Nigeria Nelson Eziechinam reports that the event featured Presentation of Awards of recognition to the keynote speakers and other notable individuals including the State Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sir Nobert Obi.
