The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Rita Maduagwu says legislative institutions in the country have performed creditably in promoting human and infrastructural development.

Speaking in Enugu during the meeting of the Conference of Southeast Speakers, Barrister Maduagwu who is the chairman of the Conference revealed that the meeting was the official submission of the harmonized standing order for the state Houses of Assembly in the Southeast zone put together by the Southeast Governance and Legislative Reform Committee.

The Speaker while expressing satisfaction with the work of the committee maintained that the harmonized standing order would enhance regional harmony and ensure cohesion in the process of law making in the Southeast.

She noted that the Regional Legislative Standing Order would further unify the Southeast and create more understanding in the management and conduct of legislative activities.

Barrister Maduagwu enjoined various Houses of Assembly in the Southeast zone to painstakingly consider the draft document, which according to her, represents the vast interest of Ndigbo in all
indices of national development.
