The State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, Mrs Rita Maduagwu, for piloting the affairs of the House creditably.

The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored to that effect by the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, Honourable Uchenna Okafor and seconded by the Chief Whip, Honourable Lawrence Ezeudu, during plenary.

Moving the motion, Honourable Okafor expressed joy that for the past three and half years, Barrister Maduagwu has conducted the affairs of the House judiciously, which has resulted to the unprecedented development of the state.

On his part, the member representing Anambra East Constituency, Chief Obinna Emeneka, noted that the Speaker performed above expectations in a House dominated by the male folk, attributing the achievements recorded by the present administration to the cordial relationship that exists between the Legislature and the Executive Arms of Government.

The Speaker, Barrister Maduagwu assured that the House will continue to enact quality laws for the benefit of the people and read out the resolution of the House. Also at plenary, the House considered the Medium Term Expenditure Framework as requested by Governor Willie Obiano.

During plenary, the House extended the tenure of the Transition Chairmen and members of the twenty one local government areas of the state for three months, in line with section two hundred and eight of the Local Government Law.

In their separate speeches, the Transition Committee Chairman for Idemili North Local Government Area, Mr Raphael Nnabuife and his Orumba South counterpart, Mr Raymond Onyegu, thanked the House for extending their tenure, assuring that they will continue to work for the peace and progress of the state.
