Agricultural cooperative societies have been urged to register with the Ministry of Agriculture to benefit from various state government empowerment programmes.
Anambra State Agricultural Development Programme Manager, Mr. Jude Nwankwo who was speaking in Awka, commended the giant strides of Gov. Willie Obiano in developing the agricultural sector.
He made the commendation in his office when an Agricultural Development Cooperative Society Scheme, paid him a courtesy visit.
The Manager explained that the level of development in the state was propelled by the Agricultural revolution, which had also taken the state to enviable heights.
The ASADEP manager emphasized that many farmers that registered with the Ministry of Agriculture Data Centre, benefited from various interventions of agricultural inputs and fertilizers, which helped to increase their yields and income.
Mr Nwankwo assured that ADP would extend technical support on all aspects of agricultural production to farmer which was primarily their mandate.
He explained that the Anambra State Government was desirous to use agriculture not only to fight crime and create employment but to also help in forming cooperative societies.
Earlier, President of the Association, Mr. Moses Igbomame thanked the Programme Manager, adding that they were there to partner with government and to showcase their desire to take farming to another level.
