As the 2018 World Cup kicks off today in Russia, football enthusiasts have urged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to conquer their group opponents and emerge as surprise contenders in this year’s mundial.

Some football fans, who spoke to the ABS on their expectations from the Nigerian team in the global tournament, said the team had the full tactical and mental game- plan that will ultimately guarantee them success in the competition.

Correspondent Daniel Ezeigwe, gathered people’s reactions on the tournament and reports that while speaking to ABS, Mr. Chibuzor Okoye, expressed optimism that with the Super Eagles’ tactical setups, there is hope of success if the team play as a collective unit.

Another football lover, Mr. Calypso Chinwuko, stated that the team is bound for glory considering the logistics support provided them by the government and corporate bodies.

For Mr. Charles Charjoe, the Nigeria’s Super Eagles, stand a huge chance counting on experience and players’ individual capabilities, adding that with the presence of game-changing figures in the team, it would be a hard task for opposition teams to break down the team.

Countering the difficulties envisaged in Nigeria’s emergence from Group D , which also has Argentina, Croatia and Iceland, Mr. Emeka Okoye, said it was up to the team to up their games and refrain from complacency, and the costly misjudgment of an opposition as underdog.

The Super Eagles first group encounter would be against Croatia on Saturday, 16th of June, at the Kaliningrad Stadium and Kick off time is 8pm.
