The fourth edition of Nkemdiche Constituency Football Tournament has ended in Onitsha with Nkemdiche FC lifting the trophy.

The final competition was played at Modebe Memorial Secondary School Odoakpu Onitsha.

The final competition of the tournament which kick started on 29th of last Month ended in three goals to one after a stiff battle between Nkemdiche football club and Odoakpu Ward One football club,

The first goal was scored in the first half of the match while the other three came in the second half with Nkemdiche scoring three goals and Odoakpu Ward one, one goal, which made Nkemdiche football club the champion of the tournament, Odoakpu Ward one took the second position and Odoakpu waryd Two came third.


Speaking after performing the kick off ceremony , the initiator and sponsor of the tournament and the member representing Onitsha South Constituency Two in the state House of Assembly, Honourable Beverly Nkemdiche-Ikpeazu, said the competition was aimed at keeping youths in her constituency active in sporting activities as well as develop budding talents in sports especially now that sports is a means of livelihood.

Honourable Nkemdiche-Ikpeazu stated that since sports is in her family, she wants to introduce such to her constituency to keep the youths busy , noting that the football game will help discover budding players that will join state football team and beyond and called on other youths to follow suit.

The APGA Chairman Onitsha South Council Area, Chief Ikechukwu Ezeoba and its secretary, Mr. Noel Udorji, commended Honourable Nkemdiche-Ikpeazu for the good representation saying that introduction of the tournament will help keep the youths off the street and develop their talents.

Others who spoke to ABS, including Honourable Ifeanyi Ifedi, Mr. Ebuka Agaobi and Maduabuchukwu Papa, expressed happiness at such initiative and thanked the sponsor for her kind gestures towards the youths and all in her constituency, noting that she has touched many lives and prayed for God’s blessing on her urging for the continuation of the tournament .

Presentation of trophies to the winners and consolation prizes to other teams by Honorable Mrs Nkemdiche- Ikpeazu, formed the high points of the event.
