It was an atmosphere of conviviality and celebration at an inaugural ball to mark Chief Willie Obiano’s swearing-in as Governor of Anambra State for a second term.

The event took place at the Governor’s Lodge Amawbia.

Governor Obiano, stepped into the ball, flanked by his wife, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu, both well-dressed for the ceremony and moved round the hall to exchange pleasantries with guests.

 

Notable among those present were the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, the Member representing Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Victor Umeh, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, the wife of a former President, Chief Mrs Bola Obasanjo among numerous others.

 

In his remarks, Governor Obiano said Ndi Anambra spoke very loud and the world heard them during the last governorship election, noting that the task ahead is enormous but do-able.

 

While thanking all who came to the ball to felicitate with him and all Ndi Anambra who made the victory possible, Governor Obiano assured that with their support, there will be no limit to what the State can achieve in the next four years.

 

Some guests at the event including the National President, Miners Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Sani Shehu and an International Business and Financial Consultant, Mr Marcel Ofomata said the Obiano administration has initiated laudable policies and programmes that have elicited the interests of key development stakeholders and partners, pointing out that partnerships across board is key to the realization of the present administration’s objective.

 

They appealed to Ndi Anambra irrespective of political affiliations, to rally round the Governor to enable him build a sustainable economy in the State.

 

In their separate remarks, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Greg Nwakobi and an APGA stakeholder, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa described Governor Obiano as a visionary leader who came into the state governance prepared, adding that he has also shown that he could lead the Igbo nation to emancipation.

 

Others who spoke at the event including an industrialist, Chief Dan Chukwudozie and construction experts, Chief Obi Eneh and Prince Chuma Okolo observed that the massive attendance at the event shows the goodwill Governor Obiano enjoys among the people.
The Governor, his wife and their guests were at the ball, treated to sweet musical tunes by numerous artistes notable of whom were Flavor and Tekno.
