Nigerians have been urged to make adequate use of the library for enhanced development of the country.

This was the Central message during the State Chapter of the Nigerian Library Association’s Annual Conference held in Awka.

In their opening remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Dr Jeff Okeke and the Chairperson State Chapter of the Nigerian Library Association Dr Uju Nwafor-Orizu, emphasized the importance of library to individuals, and societal development calling on government and relevant stakeholders to join hands to improve the lots of the Nigeria library system.

In her keynote address, the Dean faculty of Social Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Stella Okunna, represented by Dr Chinwe Uzochukwu, emphasized that libraries, must serve as a point of development in all aspects of the peoples life.

In his address the National President of the Nigerian Library Association, Dr Umunna Opara, remarked that library is the bed rock of National development and noted that Anambra State is making efforts to make libraries an integral part of its development.
