Mrs. Nkoli Mmegbuaneze of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has been declared winner of the Idemili North State’s House of Assembly Bye Election.
The bye election held in the ten communities making up Idemili North Constituency including Abacha, Abatete, Eziowelle, Ideani, Nkpor, Obosi, Ogidi, Oraukwu and Umuoji was occasioned by the death of Mr. Francis Mmegbuaneze who hitherto represented Idemili North at the state House.
Out of the twenty three thousand and seventy three valid votes cast, APGA polled eleven thousand, five hundred and twenty six to beat five other contestants followed by the APC candidate, Mr. Tony one week Muonagor who got five thousand six hundred and seventy seven votes.
Declaring the result, the returning officer, Professor James Ekoka of University of Calabar, said since the difference between the votes is over five thousand, the result stands in spite of the fact that where election did not hold is less than four thousand.
