The Anambra state Agency for Mass Literacy Adult and Non – Formal Education has concluded its termly monitoring in two hundred and eight six adult education
centres in the state and has penciled down outstanding centres for recognition and reward.
The Acting Executive secretary of the Agency , Mr. Donatus Nwosu who made the declaration during a visit to one of the centres, said the agency would continue to encourage hard work and healthy competition amongst the centres, noting that there would be a severe sanction for those who performed abysmally.
Mr Nwosu said he would ensure that well performed literacy Centres are recognized and rewarded, noting that based on his assessment and observation many centres lived up to expectations.
He stated that the number of learners enrollment in all the centres was encouraging and a pointer to the fact that they were serious and ready to learn .
Mr Nwosu warned that the agency would not hesitate to sanction any centre found wanting , noting that the major aim of establishing the agency was to instill in adult learners, the importance of education and the need to embrace it.
He explained that in the course of the monitoring , a lot of instructional materials like packets of chalks, attendance registers and Exercise books among other things were distributed to all the centres visited, and urged facilitators and learners to remain dedicated.
Mr Nwosu enjoined them to ensure that all the rechargeable lanterns and desk chairs supplied by the state government are adequately put into good use, assuring them that more of such gestures would come their way in future through the usual good gesture of Governor Willie Obiano.
The Agency Director announced that as from next academic session all the Adult litertacy centres will attend classes from Monday to Thursday except on the town’s major market days
