Anambra Electorate Urged To Ignore Call For Election Boycott

The state electorate have been urged to disregard the call in some quarters for boycott of the coming governorship election in the state slated for November eighteen this year.

Speaking in Awka, the chairman, Willie Obiano Support Group, Sir Jude Emecheta urged the people to ensure that they collect their permanent voters cards to enable them, participate actively in the election .

Sir Jude said nobody should deny the people of the state the opportunity to vote and elect leaders of their choice to protect the future of the state.

He noted that while Ndigbo are not happy with the high level of their marginalization in national affairs, calling for election boycott is not an answer to the situation as Anambra is still part of Nigeria and its constitution.

Sir Jude cautioned the group against actions and utterances that would create crisis in the state and possibly threaten democratic rule with very unsavory consequences.

He enjoined them to allow the leadership of Ndigbo to handle the call for reforms with the needed maturity, experience, intelligence and diplomacy to achieve the desired goals .

On the recent Awka and Nnewi High court judgments on APGA leadership, Sir Jude described it as a bold step by the judiciary to promote the rule of law , Due process and tenants of democracy.

He enjoined APGA members to sustain mass mobilization of people for the coming governorship election and urged the people of the state to vote massively for Governor Willie Obiano to enable him consolidate on his remarkable achievements across the state.

Also speaking , a former chairman , Orumba South Local Governor Council, Honourable John Onyeakpa enjoined the group calling for boycott to learn from history and check excesses of their members so as not to cast themselves in bad light.

Honourable Onyeakpa urged the people of the state to ignore the call and troop out emass to vote for Governor Obiano to ensure that he is re-elected for second tenure.

He noted that the Governor has distinguished himself in all indices of development that have impacted positively on the live of the people through effective implementation of his pillars of development and the enablers.
