It is a new dawn for the pupils of Amaenyi Primary School Awka as books and computer equipment worth over three million naira was donated to them by two brothers, Gozzy and Neto Nwogbo.
For the pupils of Amaenyi Primary School, going to school have become a lot more fun as they joined their colleagues across the state to receive the dividends of good governance from Governor Willie Obiano through the renovation of classroom blocks and toilet facilities.
However, they now stand shoulders higher than their contemporaries since the arrival of two teenage children of Dr. Clem and Mrs Uche Nwogbo of Amaenyi Awka. Gozzy and Neto, both high school students in the United States started equipping the school library in 2015 as part of their community development project.
The duo were touched by the near emptiness of the school library and the need to make their contribution to government efforts to revitalize education sector in the state.
The library facilities which comprises of books in the core subject areas, literature, Science, and Computer systems, air-conditioning sets, teaching aids, standard white boards, shelves and chairs are aimed to meet international competitive standards.
For the facilitator of the project, Reverend Father Dr Patrick Okafor of the Awka Catholic Diocese and the Headmistress of the School, Mr Eunice Okoli, the donation is laudable.
Similarly, the information and communication technology instructor of the School, Mr Godwin Onuorah commended the unprecedented opportunity given to the children to measure up with their colleagues across the world.
Undoubtedly the children are now connected to e-books and e-libraries.
The excited children, David Ani and Kosarachi Okafor both of Basic five told the ABS what they have been able to learn since the equipping of the libraries.
With over seven computers and books written by internationally acclaimed authors, these young pupils of Amaenyi Primary School Awka invariably now have the world at their finger tips.
