International Children’s Day is observed on June first globally, as proclaimed by the World Conference for the well-being of children in Geneva Switzerland in 1925.

After the conference, different governments around the World decided to set aside a day as children Day to draw attention to children’s issues.
International Children’s Day 2017 marks the ninety-first global celebration of the rights and well-being of children residing in different parts of the world.
The day is observed not only to celebrate but also appreciate children’s role in shaping the future of different communities across the World.
It also encourages countries to dedicate a day to promote mutual exchange and understanding among children.
Some of the children who spoke to the ABS on the occasion, Jude Ose, Amarachi Ose and Ugo, called on government to provide an enabling environment that will give them quality education.
In his remark a parent and a Knight of Saint Sylvester, Sir Charles Anierobi, said with the celebration, parents, teachers and the entire society are being sensitized to focus on intellectual development of children.

He explained that the day serves as an occasion for devoting all attention to the juveniles who have been facing issues like poverty, racism among others.
