Governor Willie Obiano has declared open, the third Annual Federal Road Safety Corp Youths Safety Education for stakeholders in the State with a call on

them to start early to inculcate in the students, road safety tips for effective use of the roads.

The event held at Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Awka, attracted Principals and Head Teachers of Junior Secondary and Primary schools and Proprietors of Private Junior Secondary and Primary schools, among others.

Governor Obiano who described the state as one of the safest in the country, noted that the Federal Road Safety Corp is part and parcel of security architecture of the state that is guaranteeing security across the state .

Governor Obiano represented by the Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udu described the workshop as apt and, commended the FRSC for championing the cause of youths safety awareness campaign even as he urged teachers to help in teaching the students road safety measures.

In his welcome speech, the State Sector Commander, FRSC, Mr Sunday Ajayi, noted that it is the responsibility of the corps to guarantee the safety of the students as minors, explaining that the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is passionate about people using the highway without being hurt.

He urged the government to make it compulsory for every school to establish road safety club for students as well as include road safety tips in their curricular.

A resource person who is a staff of the Command, Mrs Nneka Ben-Gbemudu, educated the participants on Youth Safety tips, advising them to ensure that the students are protected against the dangers of the road.

Some of the participants, Mr Benjamin Okwe, Mrs Josephine Mbanefo and Mrs Chigozie Ughachukwu, promised to make good use of the knowledge gained and called for the sustenance of the workshop.
