Christians world over today commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ also known as Easter celebration, which marks the end of Holy week and usher in new lease of life to Christian giving them hope through his resurrection power.

At the churches visited here in Awka, Christians were seen gorgeously dressed in different attires and thanking God with a shout of gladness that Christ has risen.
In a sermon to mark the event, the vicar of Christ Redemption Church Ezi-Awka, Venerable Dr. Nnamdi Emendu, dwelt on the topic “Jesus the resurrection and the life” said that the resurrection power of Christ is the greatest, noting that with God all things are possible.
Venerable Dr. Emendu disclosed that the essential thing that happened during the resurrection is that Christ defeated the devil and gave Christians power to overcome and free those in captivity advising the faithful to share love for Christ gave himself on the cross to redeem mankind
At St. Aloysius Gonzaga Ukwulu, the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Polycap Obikwelu, said that Christ resurrection has given Christians a new life which means that they should move away from old life and worship Christ according to his directives.
Reverend Father Obikwelu also admonished Christians to show love and live in unity with one another.
Also at the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, Mercy Seat Parish, a visiting Pastor, Pastor Christian Nwabuko, charged Christians to live a righteous life and bear witness for Christ as he paid a costly prize to ensure that all are saved.
One of the parishioners of the church, Professor Fidelix Okafor, said that Easter has shown that after life, that all should meet their maker which was demonstrated at the death and resurrection of Christ, adding that the celebration gives hope advising Christians to strive to live in accordance with God’s word.
