Governments at all levels have been urged to sponsor the game of Tennis because of its expensive nature

The organizers of the East of the Niger Inter Club Tennis Championship, ENIC games, the longest running, privately sponsored Tennis Championship in the country, made the call in Enugu.

Clubs from Abia, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Enugu, Rivers, Cross River and Imo States converged on Enugu sports club for the tennis fiesta won by Aba sports club for the second time.
Other clubs that have won the coveted trophy back to back include STDC of Owerri, Onitsha country club, Nnewi sports club and the Abakaliki sports club.
The Onitsha sports club which came second in this year’s tennis tournament, said it is all sports according to the president of the club, Chief Tobechi Ejezie and a veteran player for the club, Chief Emma Odeluga.
The President, Aba Sports club, Chief Chinweoke Uzoagba said their priority is to hold unto the cup for many more years.
Organisers of the tournament, including Chief Austin Agbaje, Mr. Ifeanyi Uzodike and Dr. Kachi Nworgu promised to continue in the support of ENIC games.
Presenting the trophy to the winners, at a gala night chaired by the former minister of labour Chief Emeka Nworgu, the 2017 ENIC Chairman, Chief Kingsley Uduh, charged clubs to aspire to be the best they can, so as to become the next champions in the next season which kicks off in October this year.
